ECG Results

On (Thursday 7th August 2025) I visited Manchester Royal Infirmary to discuss my recent ECG results with my cardiologist. After checking in, I waited a few minutes before being called in for the routine procedures of having my blood pressure measured and my weight checked.

After these procedures were completed and documented in my medical records, I returned to the waiting room to await my appointment with the cardiologist to discuss the ECG results.

It was determined that there are no present issues with my heart, and it has stayed the same since my last ECG. She noted that, for now, we don't need to plan for surgery, but something will need to be done in the future, I mentioned that I've been monitoring my own ECGs and blood pressure at home, emphasizing how committed I am to keeping track of my health. I inquired about the type of surgery I might need, asking whether it would be keyhole or open heart. She responded by saying that since I'm so interested, she would show me.

She opened heart diagrams on the computer and explained each step in detail. I was also giving the answers before she did. She was really impressed with how much I enjoyed it all. I joked with her, saying that soon I'd have to be her assistant. She laughed and said, "Yes, we'll have to get you looking at a few patients."

I believe the hospital I'm currently with is fantastic; everyone is so understanding and friendly. It's much better than North Manchester General Hospital.

The leak remains present and severe, but she is currently satisfied with the results and does not need to begin preparing for surgery at this time. However, intervention will be necessary in the future. Additionally, I was informed that my ECGs will continue annually, and I will now need MRI scans every 3 to 4 years.

My cardiologist also advised that I increase my exercise to make my heart pump faster until I become breathless, then rest, as this improves blood flow and strengthens the heart. She also suggested doing 10 - 15 repetitions per arm with my weights at home.

The ECG results are all fine, and there's no need for surgical intervention at this time. My next ECG is scheduled for 12 months from now. I'm not sure when my first MRI scan appointment will be, but I'll keep you all informed.
